ABC LIST OF 2010 CAMP PROGRAMS
APPLE CORPS Day Away (For Adults and Families): July 12 or July 13
Adults and families can come to camp for a day away. We will provide a day of programming for you, including good food, fellowship, Bible Study and activities. Join us for Bible study at 9:15, stay for camp activities and lunch and leave at 4:15 p.m. Fee Price J
BASIC* (Completed Grades 3-8): August 1-6
This is the name for the joint camping week of the Upper Susquehanna Lutheran Synod and the Episcopal Diocese of Central PA. BASIC* stands for Brothers and Sisters in Christ. We’ll celebrate our unity in Christ through our baptism and have all sorts of unique activities including our Winter Olympics in August! Fee Price D
BASIC* SURE (Completed Grades 3-5): August 1-6
SURE stands for Survival Using the Resources of the Environment. Be like the “castaways” on the TV show “Survivor” and learn how to survive in the woods. Bring dark clothing for stalking exercises and be ready for some friendly survival competitions! Fee Price E
Blast Off! (Completed Grades 6-8): June 27-July 2
This new camp offering highlights model rocketry. Campers will build and launch model rockets and learn about this time-tested hobby. You’ll get to take your rockets home and you will work with air power, water power, and traditional rocket engines. A surprise field trip might also be offered! Fee Price G
Day Camp (Completed Grades K-8): June 14-18
Day Campers participate in Bible study, worship, crafts, swimming and many other great camp activities from 9:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. You can also stay overnight on Thursday if you want to experience an overnight at camp! A closing program for parents will be held Friday at 3:15 p.m. Fee Price A
Family Camp (all ages): July 11-14
You just cannot pass up on the wonderful value of Family Camp! Singles, couples, grandparents and anyone who wants a relaxing and inspirational vacation should join in the fun, fellowship, good food and excitement of Outdoor Ministries. Time is set aside for Bible Study, camp activities and family time. If you feel like being alone or taking a nap, you can do it! Adults: Fee Price C; Teens: Fee Price H; Children 5-12: Fee Price I; family camp fees do not include a store card
Gettysburg Adventure (Completed Grades 7-10): July 11-16
We’ll take a three-day trip to Gettysburg, PA, leaving on Monday morning. Campers will tour the civil war battlefields, the new visitor’s center, and the Lutheran Theological Seminary. They’ll stay overnight at our sister camp, Nawakwa, in Arendtsville. After their return Wednesday, they’ll be involved with camp activities the rest of the week. Fee Price E
Intermediate Crafts (Completed Grades 6-8): July 4-9
If you like to do arts and crafts, this camp is for you. You’ll have extra time in our craft lodge and will make some special projects, under the direction of our craft director. You’ll take home all kinds of cool things! Fee Price G
Intern (Completed Grades 9-11): July 18-23; August 1-6
Are you interested in someday working at Camp Mount Luther and gain leadership skills? This program is designed to take an individual through the various activities that a counselor needs to learn in order to be effective. Interns will be responsible for helping in all aspects of the camping week, including planning, Bible studies, game leading, and supervision of campers. Fee Price D
Junior Crafts (Completed Grades 3-5): June 20-25
If you like to do arts and crafts, this camp is for you. You’ll have extra time in our craft lodge and will make some special projects. The idea behind this camp is to offer various traditional arts, simplified for a younger age level. It will be geared toward any child who enjoys making crafts. Fee Price G
LEGO Adventure (Completed Grades 3-5): June 20-25
Campers will be able to express their creativity and learn more about their favorite hobby of LEGO building in this camp, including LEGO history. You’ll have lots of time to build. Bring one brand new LEGO building set or bring your favorite set but please take it apart and bring along the instructions so you can rebuild it here. We’ll provide the other LEGO materials for you, including a brand new set that’s yours to keep! For Bible studies, we’ll use “The Brick Testament” which uses LEGO bricks to illustrate biblical stories. A tour to a large LEGO display is also planned. Fee Price G
Mini-Intern (Completed Grades 9-11): July 14-16
Busy senior highers who want a shorter experience being an intern can come for this new program. Spend half a week being a junior counselor! Fee Price B
Mini-Junior (Completed Grades 3-6): July 14-16
For those elementary school kids who want to come to camp but not for a whole week, this one’s for you. Spend a weekend at Mount Luther, getting a sampling of camp activities, including a sleepout! Fee Price B
Mini-Pioneer (Completed Grades K-2): July 14-16
Spend half a week making new friends your own age, doing special activities and learning more about God. You’ll also get to sleep out under the stars! It will be a blast! Fee Price B
Night Owl (Completed Grades 3-8): July 4-9, July 18-23
During this week, you’ll stay up later each night and do nighttime activities like star gazing, night hikes (watch out for those nocturnal animals) and maybe even a drive-in style movie or sleeping in the field! Make sure you have a good flashlight (we might play flashlight tag) and some dark clothes for Capture the Flag. Fee Price D
Off-Site Day Camps (ages and schedule varies)
Mount Luther introduces outdoor ministry to children close to home in the form of Off-Site Day Camps. Mount Luther staff and congregational volunteers lead a program of worship, Bible Study, a snack, games, crafts, nature activities, singing and field trips in local congregations. This summer, camp staff will be at St. Matthew Lutheran, Shamokin Dam; Trinity Lutheran, Milton; Beaver Lutheran, Beaver Springs; Emmanuel Lutheran, Middleburg; St. John Lutheran, Bloomsburg; St. John Lutheran, Richfield; Centre Lutheran, Mifflintown; First Lutheran, Watsontown; Zion Lutheran, Turbotville; Bethany Lutheran, Montoursville and Faith Lutheran, Lewisburg. Pedal, Pack and Paddle (Completed Grades 6-8): July 4-9
This brand new trip camp is a sampler of adventure! One morning you’ll be mountain biking so please bring a mountain bike in working order, a helmet and an extra inner tube. You’ll also experience backpacking and hiking in some of the most scenic wilderness in Pennsylvania. And, be prepared (even if you are not a boy scout) for a day of canoeing on the Susquehanna River. Don't forget to pack your strong arms for paddling and an appetite for adventure. Fee Price G
Pioneer (Completed Grades K-2): July 18-23
A whole week of fun for our youngest campers! Experience all that Mount Luther has to offer, including seeing our famous camels! We try to make our pioneer program extra fun for our youngest campers. Some fun activities that have been done over the years including making desserts, can crushing, van washing, ice cream pool parties, and cabin decorating. There will also be lots of surprises! Senior High (Completed Grades 9-11): June 27- July 2
Senior High is going to be a little different this year as you will take an active role in planning your week. As soon as you arrive, you’ll start planning the schedule and what YOU want to do. A “Night Out” is planned- you should bring your favorite Tacky Tourist clothes and be prepared for Talent Night when you can do a comedy act, musical interpretation, lip sync act, or other talent. SURE Wilderness Adventure (Completed Grades 6-8): August 1-6
This new camp is a new attempt at our intermediate survival camp. Campers in this program will be nomadic and will try to sleep out at a different spot each night. They’ll use some of their basic camping and survival skills but still get to participate in our all-camp activities. Fee Price E
Traditional (Completed Grades 3-8): June 20-25, June 27- July 2
Our classic camp which has the basics of outdoor ministry all wrapped up into one week! Come experience all that we have to offer including: swimming, singing, Bible Study, worship, campfires, games, sleeping out, and crafts! It’s a perfect introduction to Mount Luther! Fee Price D
