Giving to Camp Mount Luther
An intentional Christian Community; where all of God’s children can strengthen and renew themselves in body, mind, and spirit… A place to witness God in the glory of Creation…that’s Camp Mount Luther.
Your gifts to Mount Luther help make Christ known to children, youth, adults and families who participate in programs at Mt. Luther can encounter unique worship experiences, prayer, meditation, study and adventure in the midst of Christian community. Mount Luther is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation that is dependant upon the sustained generosity of our many friends and the congregations of Central Pennsylvania.
At Camp Mount Luther all participants can:
- Develop a deeper commitment to God
- Relate their growth to their church, family, and other experiences
- Develop a sense of identity and self-worth
- Relate to the world of nature and gain skills for living in it
- Learn to make Christian and effective use of their time
- Gain leadership skills and confidence from a Christian perspective
- Become more emotionally mature and self-assured
When a person develops a deeper commitment to God their connection to the Church is strengthened; both the individual and the Church will flourish! The continued support of caring individuals, families, and congregations allows Camp Mount Luther to continue its mission of Making Christ Known through Outdoor Ministries.
Here are some giving opportunities:
Adopt a Building
Since 1993, congregations of the Upper Susquehanna Synod have adopted cabins at Camp Mount Luther. Each congregation is responsible for cleaning, inside and outside maintenance, and the replacement of mattresses, covers, and other small items in the cabin. Work is typically done at the camp's spring work day. When extra maintenance work is done on the building, congregations are notified to help share the expense.
Annual Fund
Mount Luther requests contributions to offset our general operating expenses. You can make a donation anytime during the course of the year to help Mt. Luther’s budgetary needs. Donating to the annual fund helps keep fees as low as possible for all participants.
The Birthday Candle Campaign
As the camp gets ready to celebrate its 50th birthday in 2013, it is the board’s birthday wish that Mount Luther has financial resources to begin its sixth decade on solid ground. That’s why the camp board and the Upper Susquehanna Synod authorized a three-pronged fundraising effort to celebrate this upcoming milestone. The campaign is designed to enhance annual fund giving, reduce existing debt, build an endowment fund, and begin new capital programs. Congregations and individuals can help by giving a donation to the BIRTHDAY CANDLE CAMPAIGN. For every $12,000 the camp raises by its birthday, one candle will be put on a birthday cake. We’d like to raise $600,000 by then (and have all 50 candles!) You can designate your gift to any of the following and it will be counted toward this effort:
- Annual Fund
- Camperships
- Evergreen Center Debt Reduction
- Endowment Fund

Designated Gifts
Your designated gifts provide specific programs or resources for the camp. These gifts may include but are not limited to: nature, camping and adventure program development, music, recreational and/or maintenance supplies. Memorial gifts may be made to the camp to remember and honor a loved one who has joined the Church Triumphant. This is a personalized heartfelt way to memorialize your loved one for years to come.
Sponsor a Fundraiser
In the past, congregations have sponsored fundraisers at their church with the proceeds benefiting Mount Luther's programs and facilities. Many of these projects can be matched by fraternal organizations. One thing you can do is enlist volunteers to do the work and get donations for the items you need so that more money can be realized through your efforts. With a little ingenuity and some work you can easily help out the camp by raising money. And, in the process, you can experience Christian fellowship and fun.
Thrivent Choice
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members can donate their local Thrivent Choice dollars to Camp Mount Luther. When you receive notification that you have dollars to designate, please designate Camp Mount Luther!
Time and Talent
Camp Mount Luther not only depends on your generous financial support, but also requires the contribution of your ideas, your abilities and your time. We are always eager to consider new thoughts and ideas on ways to improve our ministry and expand programming for all ages. Mt. Luther also recognizes the unique gifts and talents that God has given us as individuals. Individuals and families who are willing to share their talents along with their valuable time are always welcome. Please consider Camp Mount Luther the next time you or someone you know is in need of a service project, too. There is always something that needs done at camp! You can schedule a time when a group of people can come and do a servant project, working on something that needs done at camp. It can be a great bonding experience and of course, service is faith in action!
Wish List
Camp Mount Luther maintains a "Wish List" of items we are currently seeking. New or lightly-used items are needed to continue maintaining our programs and keep our property in top condition. Financial donations are needed to complete some other projects. Individuals or congregations who can assist in providing any of the items should contact the camp office. Items are posted in our “Camel Tracks” newsletter.
Youse Campership Fund and Doyle Campership Fund
Camperships provide scholarships to children whose family cannot afford the registration fees. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to attend Camp Mount Luther. Unfortunately not every family has the resources available to send their children to camp. Individuals and congregations alike have designated gifts specifically for the campership program. Both full and partial camperships are granted upon request, based on need. It is our hope and the hope of many that the Mount Luther experience be available to all! The fund for Lutheran campers is named after the Rev. Conrad Youse, a former administrator of Camp Mount Luther. Pastor Youse provided strong and faithful leadership in the field of outdoor ministries for over thirty years. The fund for Episcopal campers is in memory of Rev. Leslie Doyle, an early co-director in our joint Episcopal/Lutheran summer camp week.
