Your Week at Camp
Our week long camps begin on Sunday with registration from 2:45-4:00 p.m. Prior to check-in time, our staff are busy preparing so we ask that you do not arrive prior to the scheduled time. If you need to leave early or leave during the week for a special event, please fill out the appropriate forms with your counselor upon arrival. We end our week Friday with a picnic meal, singing, and a short sending service at the pavilion. Parents are invited to arrive around 6:00 and following our sending service at 6:15, you are welcome to visit our camp store and then depart for home. Shorter or longer term camp arrival and departure times will be shared with you in the registration materials.
This Year’s Theme is Crosswalk
For those who believe in Jesus and desire to follow him, the Scriptures say in Luke 9:23, “Then he said to them all, ‘If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.’” To follow Jesus is not easy. To take up one’s cross daily is certainly not easy. Just as it was a struggle for any victim during the Ro
man empire to carry this stake to the place of execution (just as Jesus did), it is not an easy thing for a baptized child of God to carry the cross.
During this week, we’ll help explore what this passage means for you in your daily crosswalk. Together, you will delve into what a crosswalk means as you live in the camp environment. But most of all, together you will explore what this means as you return home and crosswalk daily in your communities. Our theme verse is Micah 6:8, “What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Our daily themes and Bible texts include:
Day 1 : Setting Out : Micah 6: 1-4, 8
Day 2 : Following the Promise : Luke 6: 17-23a
Day 3 : Doing Justice : Deuteronomy 10: 12-21
Day 4 : Loving Kindness : Matthew 25: 31-36
Day 5 : Walking Humbly with God : Philippians 2: 1-13
These themes will be part of our Daily Bible Study. Bible Studies incorporate readings, songs, games, and demonstrations in order to express the day's theme. Our Bible Studies are very unique when held in the beauty and magic of God's creation. We will explore these themes more in our Daily Worship. Each day cabin groups participate in worship to give thanks and feel closer to God and all that God has given us. These worship services are held at many designated sites throughout the camp and can vary in format from traditional to contemporary style. Campers often plan and/or lead these services, which gives you confidence and direct involvement in the activity. Each day, the daily theme will be first presented during our First Light morning devotions.
Safety is a Priority!
