Yesterday was an amazing day! Our community stepped up and showed support in a HUGE way for the life-changing experiences that happen here at CML. While we put a lot of effort into the regional on-line fundraising in March called Raise the Region, the last few years we have also jumped on the Giving Tuesday bandwagon. And this year, despite a slower than usual start, we surpassed our goal of $3,000 in providing funding for camperships as well as to purchase 12 new mattresses. Our final total yesterday was $5,595. In addition, one donor gave a generous gift to our Foundations for the Future capital campaign that is included in this total.

Support of Camp Mount Luther is needed throughout the year. This year, we gave out about $10,000 in scholarships for campers who needed financial support. We’ve seen an increase in requests for those who need help to come to camp. We have never turned a camper down due to their ability to pay and this boost from Giving Tuesday will help us to continue that important tradition.

We’re thrilled that we can continue our mattress upgrade project that we’ve been doing the last few years. The new mattresses have been an asset to our summer campers and those who use camp year-round. We’ve gotten a lot of compliments on this upgrade. We still have two more cabins to go and hope to get this project completed in the near future.

We also know that our ability to serve our camp community comes from generous gifts throughout the year. Annual fund giving supports all aspects of our operations from facilities to camperships to summer staff salaries and everything in between. Now is the perfect time to consider an end-of-year gift or to become a sustaining monthly donor. You can also add to our Giving Tuesday total if you put “Giving Tuesday” in the comment line on the online giving form.

Thank you so much for your support on Giving Tuesday and throughout the year. We surely do appreciate being surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses as we do God’s work in Central PA!
