The gift of camp can be lifechanging.
Each year hundreds of children come to Camp Mount Luther (or one of our day-camp partnerships) and experience the love of Jesus. They encounter Christ in the friends they make, in the games they play, in the meals they eat, on the trails they walk, in the cabin leaders they follow, and in the songs they sing. Youth who have a summer camp experience make new friends, grow in their faith, and gain life skills. Many who attend summer camp look back on it as one of the most formative events of their life.
Unfortunately, some parents and caregivers simply cannot afford to send their kids to camp. But we at Camp Mount Luther believe that no camper should be turned away simply because they do not have the ability to pay for their experience. That’s why we offer camperships—scholarships to cover the cost of camp.
This past year, we awarded about $10,000 in camperships. And the truth is, anyone who comes to camp benefits from financial aid. The cost per camper to attend camp is about $2000/week. Even those who elect to pay “full-price” are still covering less-than-half the cost of what it takes to make camp happen for each of our campers.
So this Giving Tuesday, we’re asking you to prayerfully consider making a donation to Camp Mount Luther. Your donation will help to cover the costs of campers and to give them a more comfortable experience while at camp. Donations received on Giving Tuesday will help us both to support past and future campers as well as complete our new mattress initiative (we’re so close to having new mattresses on every bed in every cabin at camp!).
So on Tuesday, December 3, make a donation to Camp Mount Luther and give the gift of camp!
