As you may know, our annual Evening at Shade Mountain is coming on November 1st. It’s a fun evening of food, fellowship, and music. You can read about how this event started here.
Traditionally, we’ve had a live musician sing during this event. We’ve had several great local musicians over the years including Bernie Rich, KJ Reimensnyder-Wagner, Jason Yoder, Jay Smar, Van Wagner, and Mark Alexander. Those who have attended have enjoyed listening to the music of these gifted artists.
I also have gotten the comment several times about how the music sometimes distracts from the conversation. Folks get involved in dialogue and then get distracted by the music. Or, they have a hard time engaging in talk because it’s a bit loud for their tastes. The fellowship and food seem to be the priority for those who attend. And, of course, to support the camp in this way.
This year, we’ve decided to try something different. We will still have music in the background but I’m going to be “spinning the tunes” from my computer. I’ve decided that we will feature the solo piano music of George Winston. For years, I’ve used his music as part of field worships I’ve led at camp. My family got to see him in concert in Lewisburg just a few months before he died in 2023. I thought it would be a fitting tribute to this man who has been weaved into camp life. It’s also just excellent music.
There is still time to register to come to Shade Mountain. Space is limited and reservations are required. Please contact cml@campmountluther.org or call 570-922-1587 to secure your seat. We do not charge a fee. The “cost” is a donation. All proceeds benefit Camp Mount Luther. We also receives a portion from all bottles of wine purchased that evening.
If you’d like to help us promote the event with your friends or your church, share this flyer!
We hope to see you there!
